Diamond Eight’s annual Toys for Tots 8-Ball Tournament was another huge success, thanks to all of our friends (old and new) who came to support the mission of Toys for Tots and ensure that the children of the Capital Region shared in the holiday spirit.

It was Chris and Ann Smith, and Jay D’Haene and Mike Yudin, who shared the 1st place victory for the 2009 edition, as they decided to forgo the final match and split the prize money. Both teams played extremely well throughout the day and deserve kudos for their great sportsmanship. The 8-Ball scotch doubles tournament saw 24 players matched up in pairs to compete in this fun event and enjoy the delicious buffet provided by Diamond Eight (great job Angela!). Thanks to everyone who came out to support Toys for Tots!

Audre Hartman won the grand prize, a beautiful Mike Massey-autographed cue, donated by the APA of Greater Albany. Other prizes included Albany River Rats tickets, Diamond Eight shirts, table time coupons, and holiday-themed gifts. Special thanks to Tom Acciavatti, who donated free cue repair coupons and unique holiday merchandise. Thanks to everyone who helped us out during the day, especially Kim, who sold raffle tickets, and Julie, who made sure the tournament ran smoothly.

Two overflowing boxes of toys will be donated to the Toys for Tots program thanks to our generous players. Over $350. in cash was raised through the raffles and will be used to purchase more toys for the Toys for Tots program. Special thanks to Ann and Chris Smith, who donated their winnings back to Toys for Tots! Thanks very much!
