The Dominiak Cues Northeast Amateur 10-Ball Tour kicked off its 2009/2010 Season at Diamond Eight with a strong field of 25 amateur players. Jared Zimmerman, of Mayfield, NY and frequent visitor at Diamond Eight, worked his way through the field to meet Tom Acciavatti in the race-to-5 final match. Jared jumped out to a 4-1 lead, only to see Tom fight his way back to the hill. After some back and forth in the deciding game, Jared was able to run 4 balls and take the easy 9-10 combo for the victory.

For the new season of the tour, Kevin has decided to raffle off a Dominiak Cue for the players at every stop. Diamond Eight’s own Jackie Ford was the lucky player and took home a beautiful Dominiak Cue. Frank Rich, Frank Majewski, and Chuck Hill won Diamond Eight and Dominiak t-shirts.
Congratulations to all the players for a great tournament! Thanks to Kevin Vidal for running the tour, specifically designed for the amateur players. It was a great day. Final results:
- 1st: Jared Zimmerman
- 2nd: Tom Acciavatti
- 3rd: Frank Rich
- 4th: Frank Majewski
- 5/6th: Walter Rogowski, Chuck Hill
More details after the jump
Jared took the “hot seat” (winner of the no-loss side) by defeating Jackie Ford, Rich Adlre, Frank Rich and Tom Acciavatti. Tight matches on the 1-loss side saw Diamond Eight’s own Frank Majewski and Frank Rich advance, with the winner meeting Tom Acciavatti, who lost to Jared in the hot seat match.
Tom squeaked out the win against Frank Rich, and so Tom would meet Jared again in the race-to-5 final match. In the final match, Jared took an early 2-1 lead. In the 4th game, Tom was forced to kick at the 8-ball the length of the table; he made the 8, but scratched and left Jared the easy 9-10 out. Jared took a 4-1 lead after a safe battle fell into Jared’s favor and ran 6 and out.
Tom battled back to 4-4 with some good safes and a little luck, to force the deciding game. No balls fell on Tom’s break. Jared made the 1 but the 2 was in a difficult spot. Jared made a good hit and the 7 fell, but missed the next shot at the 2. After Tom missed a tough shot, Jared made the 2 and 3, but missed the 4, leaving Tom safe. Tom made a great attempt to make the 4 in the corner off the rail, but the 4 stayed up. Jared shook off his nerves and made the 4,5,6,8 and took the easy 9-10 combo for the win.
